It’s easy to overlook present blessings because of a tainted outlook on life.
We focus on what we don’t have, all the while forgetting the things that we do have.
Leah is a great example of this. She desperately wanted a relationship with her husband. She was focused on quantity time with Jacob. She forgot about the quality time they spent together.
4 verses, describe 4 years of fruitfulness in Leah’s life story.Genesis 29:32-35 – And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the Lord hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me. And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she said, Because the Lord hath heard that I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon. And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi. And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the Lord: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.
Nobody else is having children. Jacob just looks at Leah and she gets pregnant. All of the other wives in Abraham’s great family had bouts of barrenness.
All of us would like 4 years of our life story to be full of productivity. No recorded sickness, failure, sin, or mistakes.
Leah doesn’t have the one thing she desires most: but she does have children.
What is the one thing you don’t have, that is blinding your eyes to everything that you do have?
Why not take a minute to forget about it?
Step back and count the miracles that have been birthed while you were reaching for the seeming unattainable.
- Fruitful relationships.
- Fruitful finances.
- Fruitful evangelism.
- Fruitful family.
- Fruitful gifting.
- Fruitful revelation.
It makes you want to praise right?
Praise (Judah) is birthed when Leah finally steps back and realizes how blessed she really is.
I don’t have this. But I do have that.
The do haves always outweigh the don’t haves.
Pray for the thing you want. Praise for all the things you have.
Thankful hearts are joyful hearts.
I’d rather have joy than jealousy.
