Elder and Younger

Recently while reading I Samuel 3, I noticed a God given combination that facilitates a new move of God. Chapter 3 is about transition. God is bringing forth a new thing in the earth. I still believe that God is a God of new things.

Samuel hears the voice of God. There was a clear call given to this young faithful steward of the Lord. The problem was that Samuel really didn’t know what to do with it. Enter Eli. Samuel brings His fresh word to the experienced Eli. Eli tells Samuel what to do with the word He has just received. The young Samuel receives the word, Eli gives Samuel direction. What a combination.

There are many people hearing an authentic word from God, but they don’t know what to do with it. There are many experienced Eli’s among us that could give great direction. If we could get together.

It is important to note that Eli didn’t like the word that was given. It meant a change from his leadership to Samuels. However, He still gave direction. Every new word that is coming in this time of transition that we are in, isn’t going to be exactly what everybody was hoping to hear. I thank God for Eli’s that can still give direction, even if that direction makes them a little uncomfortable.
