This is Part 23 of the A Luke 10 Moment series.
The disciples were sent out into the harvest field without anything that wasn’t necessary. I don’t know how they made it through this ministry experience without an iPhone, iPod, or Apple TV. There were going to be plenty of distractions ahead of them. They would face haters, debaters, and degraders.
Knowing this, Jesus didn’t want them to add any other unnecessary distractions. Travel light. Be focused.
They weren’t carrying extra shoes, purses (man’s bag), etc. But they were carrying glory. Glory is the weighty presence of God. The bible even refers to an eternal weight of glory. Glory has weight. Your anointing comes with weight. Remember, Israel wasn’t allowed to carry the Ark of the Covenant, any other way than on the shoulders of men. Weight. Burden.
If I am carrying around this ministry weight, I obviously don’t have any room for natural encumbrances, self-imposed weights, busy schedules that schedule out Jesus, plans that don’t have any kingdom purpose, and habitual space-outs on Facebook. We all are guilty of guilty pleasures.
Since the harvest is so great, and time is limited, we need to start traveling light. Strip down the natural, and put on the spiritual. Schedule God into your calendar. Allow the Lord to lead your weekend. Free up time to serve in your church.
Do you recall when Lazarus was dead for four days and stunk? Jesus said, “Lazarus come forth!” And this dead man came walking out of the tomb. However, he was wrapped up in man produced limitations. Covered in linens that needed to be loosed so he could live a kingdom-centered life. His testimony was so powerful that the house where he dwelt was filled with people hungry for Jesus. But to get there – he had to be loosed.
What is binding you up? What natural things distract you from the kingdom? What time wasters do you need to get rid of? What else do you need to get rid of?
To be instant in-season and out of season, you must be loosed pre-season or you will have an off-season.
