This is Part 14 of the A Luke 10 Moment series.
I don’t think that we should overlook the timing of Luke 10. Jesus had just finished some pretty heavy sacrificial teaching. Through these hard hitting messages, Jesus was getting an idea of who was really with Him.
It is also interesting that in the Glover family, my brother’s and I, all have wives whose names start with Me. I don’t know how that worked out, but thank God it did. And believe it or not, we are surviving the three Me’s!
There were some people that should have been ministering in Luke 10, except for the fact that they didn’t get passed the Me’s. At least two times Jesus challenged individuals to follow Him wholeheartedly, and their fateful response was “me first”. Subsequently, these individuals were not around when it came time to minister.
Jesus comes first – period.
Only those that lose themselves in Jesus will find themselves. Only those that give up control to Jesus will experience the Luke 10 moments.
So it is after these things, that the Lord sends out His disciples. After He finds the seventy disciples that were willing to forsake all and follow Him. Perhaps churches that feel like they are in a holding pattern, are in that condition, because Jesus is looking for radical disciples. Maybe He hasn’t found anybody that is willing to put Him first.
If you are still around after these things, get ready for a Luke 10 moment.
