Delivered from fears

In Psalms 34:4, David proclaims, “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”  God delivered David from all of his fears.  That is powerful.  Just a surface study of the life of David reveals a man that was at times tormented by fear.  Therefore, when God delivered David from his fears, He touched him where he needed it most.

However, notice what God didn’t do.  God didn’t deliver David from his situation.  God can and often does deliver you from your fears without delivering you from your situation.

A lot of times we think that it’s the situation that produces fear.  It isn’t.  God will let you stay in your situation and you will be freed from fear.  Daniel fell asleep surrounded by lions.  Peter slept in prison, in chains, and with a death sentence on his head.

David was correct to ask God to deliver him from his fears and not from his circumstances.  If not dealt with, fear will follow you to your next situation.  Going to a better place isn’t the answer; getting to God is.
